When we had to stop physical meetings in March we hoped that by now it would be possible to get back to normal meetings. Unfortunately that cannot be. But not to worry the club can and will stay active in a virtual way and the committee will put together a programme of suitable and safe exercises to keep us photographically active into the future. It will be a challenge but challenges make us all more creative. Remember our success in the SACC Interclub Competition back in April. We can do the same,or better, in the National Shield in November. Looking forward to another different but active and successful club year Sept. 2020 – May 2021.
Meetings and activities of the club finish on the last Monday of May every year and Monday night last May 25th was that night. The committee held a ZOOM meeting on the night and it was decided that we would keep the Friday exercises going through June this year as it is proving a very good way of keeping us all active and in touch with each other. It was also decided that everyone should put together a portfolio of four or five Summer photos for projection or viewing in some other way when the club gets back together in some format on September 14th. It was also agreed to set a project to be worked on between now and September 14th, the project is LOCAL ARCHITECTURE and that could be photos of a house or any kind of building ancient or modern, big or small, or even just parts of a building or buildings. The subject is wide open. Whether we can get back together in meeting rooms in September will be entirely dependent on advice from the HSE, Dept. of Health & the IPF, but in any event we will get back to club activities in some way or another. The committee wishes to thank everyone for your contributions to club activities during the year even after the enforced closure due to Covid 19. We look forward to getting all of us back together in some format when it will be safe to do so. In the meantime stay safe and stay well and keep on posting images to the Shannon Camera Club Members Facebook page and let Maria know if she can post your photos on the public page by putting (P) on the script with your photos.
