17th June 2017 Dunamaise Arts Centre, Portlaoise
The IPF’s Celebration of Distinctions will give photographers an opportunity to see successful Fellowship, Associate and Licentiate panels close up and speak to their authors.
This will be a unique opportunity for photographers, when they attend IPF distinction assessment sessions, usually see successful panels only at a relative distance. In Portlaoise, it will be possible to see the work up close and talk with the authors. This will be a time to gain insights into the thought processes that lead to successful panels. If you are planning to go for any distinction level, Dunamaise Art Centre will be the place to be!
The event will feature a keynote talk by Steven Le Prevost on his recent FIPF and FRPS panels, of special interest to Visual Art photographers. Bill Power and Gerry Kerr will show their Fellowship panels, in Nature and Travel.
Four Associate panels, from Marie Phelan, Clodagh Tumilty, Paul Lanigan and Brian Mulligan will be on display, subject matter covering Flower Studies, Beaches, Street Photography, and Music.
Licentiate panels by Jean Johnston, John Mee, Bernie Joyce and Emmanuelle Galisson will be on display and attendees will have the opportunity to speak to the authors about the very diverse range of photography represented in their panels.
The event will be a Celebration of Distinctions, and of IPF club photography as whole. Much of the excellent imagery seen at the recent IPF Club Championships in Mullingar stems from the work done to gain distinctions, and this will be an opportunity to a better insight into that work, and to get inspiration for images to come.
The event will also include an update by Des Clinton FIPF and Paul Stanley FIPF, the Chair and Vice-Chair of IPF Distinctions, on developments in the assessing of subjects such as Travel and Nature photography.
