Camera Club
Shannon
Camera Club was established in 1977 and has gone from strength
to strength since. The Club is affiliated to the Southern
Association of Camera Clubs (S.A.C.C.) and the Irish Photographic
Federation (I.P.F.) and actively takes part in many associated
events. The Club meets on Monday night at 7:30pm at the Oakwood
Arms Hotel from late September to June.
The aim
of the Club is to promote the knowledge
and photographic skills of the members and provide a forum
for interaction with others of similar interest. We spend
many a happy night together in learning and discussion and
at times in awe of a visiting guest speaker.
A considerable number of former members have gone on to greater
things, and many of our present members are doing us proud
with their achievements. For example Kieran O'Loughlin, a
prominent and highly successful member of the AV Group, received
his F.I.P.F and A.R.P.S. distinctions in 2003.
The Club members have actively moved into digital photography,
and as much as 90% are either dabbling or are serious digital
users.
Membership
is open to all.
